There are a number of yoga poses for confidence and courage; postures which strengthen your resolve and improve your sense of wellbeing. This slideshow will highlight poses for beginners, intermediates, and experts.
Practicing meditation allows you to release your troubles and craft a well of strength. In Namaste, you acknowledge the light and the being of yourself and of others. As you deepen into your meditation, let that thought be the one you repeat to increase your confidence.
If you feel lost, settle yourself in Hero Pose. Keep your back straight to energize the spine and lift the spirit. If you need to, put a folded blanket under the buttocks and spread the knees a bit. As you pinpoint your intention, you'll relax and regroup.
Upward Facing Dog Pose draws from the power in your arms and even positioning as you concentrate. Lift your face to the heavens, then breathe in joy and inspiration.
The balance you'll need to do this posture makes it one of the better yoga poses for confidence and courage. The key is to focus on a point ahead of you and breathe evenly. Beginners can rest their foot in the shin area, as shown, or not raise their arms. More advanced yogis can place the foot high on the thigh. Never put a foot on the knee.
When you feel doubt, stretch into Pigeon Pose: one leg back, one leg curled. Breathe. Then, raise your back foot and reach behind to hold it, securely, arching your back as you renew your commitment to self and to purpose.
Like Plank Pose, this pose demands that you draw strength from your core to remain firm and unwavering. Don't hold your breath, but breathe through the challenge of this yoga pose for confidence and courage.
You'll advance from the other two strong Warrior Poses into this dynamic asana. Notice how the body is in perfect alignment - you'll be proud of your concentration that helps you to stay stable in this pose.
The beauty of your body, the perfect arch of your back, the strength in your legs - it's all part of this posture. As you move into the pose, breathe in new life. As you exhale and hold your head high, let all negativity leave your body.
As you advance in your practice, you'll modify yoga poses for confidence, courage, and accomplishment. Learn more about how you can draw inspiration from yoga in the book, Light on Yoga: The Bible of Modern Yoga.
